AirAsia Flies Hua Hin to Chiang Mai Every Day This Winter
Thai AirAsia has lifted Hua Hin to Chiang Mai from four days a week to daily for the winter schedule, running from 25 October to 27 March. Times, context and what is still missing.
Hua Hin Airport now has a daily scheduled flight to the north. Thai AirAsia has raised its Hua Hin to Chiang Mai service from four days a week to every day. The winter schedule runs from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027.
Deputy Transport Minister Pattarapong Pattaraprasit announced the change on 30 October, according to Daily News, MGR Online and Thai Post. The Department of Airports gave the schedule.
The timetable
Flight FD 3901 leaves Hua Hin at 14:40 and lands in Chiang Mai at 15:55. In the other direction, FD 3900 leaves Chiang Mai at 12:50 and lands in Hua Hin at 14:10. The reports give no fares and do not say which aircraft flies the route.
That makes the Hua Hin leg a short afternoon hop of 1 hour 15 minutes. The Chiang Mai departure is lunchtime and the return lands mid-afternoon, so it suits a long weekend more than a day trip. Bangkok has no part in it. The ministry’s point is that travellers skip the connection through the capital.
How big a change is it?
Smaller than the headline suggests, but real. In May, the airports department said AirAsia flew Chiang Mai to Hua Hin and back one flight a day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, Thai Post reported. Hua Hin Airport then had eight scheduled commercial flights a week.
Going daily takes the same route to 14 movements a week, by our arithmetic. The department put other traffic at about 70 flights a day, mostly training, private, charter and government aircraft. Scheduled service is a thin slice of what happens on the runway.
The department also describes the terminal as handling about 300 passengers an hour, with a 2,100 by 35 metre runway and parking for two narrow-body jets at once. A second scheduled route, EZY Airlines’ small-aircraft link to U-Tapao, is explained in Hua Hin to U-Tapao in 40 Minutes.
International flights are still only a plan
The bigger question is what comes after Chiang Mai. In July, Daily News reported the airline’s chief executive saying that a session with more than 60 Hua Hin and Cha-am operators had named four promising routes: Singapore, Taipei, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur. The airline said it would study them. No start dates were given.
In May, the deputy minister ordered runway-end safety works finished by August and told the department to pursue an airport operating certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, as Thai Post reported. We have not found a published update on either, so treat any talk of overseas flights as early.
What it means for you
If you live in or visit Hua Hin and want the north, the daily slot removes the need to plan around four weekdays. Check the airline’s own booking page before you commit, because fares and seat availability are not in any of the reports.
The schedule is seasonal. The winter timetable ends on 27 March 2027, so the daily service is not yet confirmed beyond that.
