Hua Hin Briefing: Thursday 29 October
Very heavy rain is possible in Prachuap Khiri Khan, the beachfront cut-off day, a wellness pitch for Hua Hin and an electric songthaew plan for the province.
Thursday is a day for checking the sky before you plan anything outdoors. Our weekly what’s-on guide covers Halloween weekend, and the Glamping Festival preview covers the following one. Here is what else matters today.
Heavy rain still possible
The Thai Meteorological Department’s forecast for 6pm on 28 October to 6pm on 29 October still shows isolated very heavy rain in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani, The Nation reports. It warned of flash floods and rapid runoff near foothills and watercourses, and asked evening travellers to allow extra time. Thundershowers are forecast over about 70 percent of the southern coastal areas.
Beachfront cut-off day
Water and electricity to the buildings between Hua Hin Fishing Pier and the Chao Mae Thap Thim Shrine are due to be cut today, ahead of site work. Officials are also meeting police, the electricity authority and the land office to plan the next stage. Follow every step on the beachfront demolition timeline.
A wellness pitch for Hua Hin
Suwat Liptapanlop used the launch of the Hua Hin Well Played campaign to argue that Thailand should chase higher-spending visitors, according to Thansettakij. He estimated about 34 million foreign arrivals this year against roughly 40 million before Covid, with tourism income of around ฿1.5 to ฿1.6 trillion instead of ฿2 trillion. He put a typical visitor’s spend at about ฿50,000, a conference visitor’s at ฿65,000 to ฿70,000 and a wellness visitor’s at ฿100,000 to ฿200,000. He named Hua Hin as a model for a health and longevity town. Those figures are his estimates, not official statistics. Read more on the campaign in our Well Played report.
Electric songthaews planned for Prachuap
Prachuap Khiri Khan’s consumer council says the province’s first electric songthaew line, on the Prachuap town to Wa Ko route, is expected to open in early 2027, according to the Thai Consumer Council. The 32-kilometre return route was gazetted in April 2026. Hua Hin Municipality was among the local bodies on a 22 October study trip to Kanchanaburi’s electric bus service. The report mentions no Hua Hin route.
