Hua Hin to Surat Thani by Air: Ezy’s Saturday Launch
Ezy Airlines is due to start flying Surat Thani to Hua Hin on Saturday 7 November, four days a week in a small Cessna. The timetable, what the schedule means for a Hua Hin round trip, and what nobody has published yet.
Hua Hin Airport is due to get its first scheduled flight to the south on Saturday 7 November. Ezy Airlines plans to fly a small Cessna between Surat Thani and Hua Hin, twice a day on four days a week. The aviation schedule site AeroRoutes published the timetable on 29 October. A second site, The Aviation Hub, reports the same dates and times. We found no Thai-language report or airline announcement of the launch, so treat the schedule as reported rather than confirmed.
The route matters less for its size than for what it adds. Until now the airport’s scheduled flights have pointed north and east. Thai AirAsia flies to Chiang Mai, a service that went daily on 25 October, and Ezy runs a Hua Hin to U-Tapao hop, covered in our earlier explainer. Surat Thani is the first link to the Gulf coast further south.
The timetable
| Flight | From | Departs | To | Arrives | Days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| EZT221 | Surat Thani | 09:00 | Hua Hin | 10:30 | Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun |
| EZT222 | Hua Hin | 13:20 | Surat Thani | 14:50 | Mon, Fri, Sat, Sun |
The schedule shows no service on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, which gives eight flights a week. Both reports name the aircraft as a Cessna. At its first-aircraft launch the airline described a 12-seat Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX, Thairath reported. Neither schedule report says which type flies this route or how many seats it carries.
Each leg is booked at 90 minutes. For scale, the straight line from Hua Hin Airport to Surat Thani Airport is about 400 kilometres in our own calculation. Hua Hin to U-Tapao is about 114 kilometres, a hop that earlier reports put at around 40 minutes in the air.

What the schedule means for a round trip
The timetable shapes who can use the flight. Coming north, a passenger lands in Hua Hin at 10:30 and can leave again at 13:20, which gives just under three hours on the ground. That suits a day visit from Surat Thani, although not many people will plan a day trip around three hours.
Going south from Hua Hin is harder. The only departure is at 13:20, and the only way back is the 09:00 flight from Surat Thani, so a return needs at least one night away. The pairs that work are Friday out and Saturday back, Saturday out and Sunday back, or Sunday out and Monday back. A Monday departure from Hua Hin has no flight home until Friday.
Surat Thani is also the gateway for the boats to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Our U-Tapao explainer noted that Ezy pairs its Surat Thani services with those speedboat connections. Whether a 13:20 departure reaches the afternoon ferries is something to check with the operators before booking.
Fares and fine print
No report we found gives a fare for Hua Hin to Surat Thani. The airline’s other prices offer a rough guide. At its first-aircraft launch, Thairath reported, Ezy quoted ฿1,900 to ฿2,500 a seat for Hat Yai to Betong and ฿2,900 to ฿3,900 for Hat Yai to Phuket, with prices set by season. Thaiger later cited a figure from NBT of ฿3,100 before VAT for Hat Yai to Betong, so the numbers are not consistent across reports. Hua Hin to U-Tapao started with promotional fares from ฿2,900, according to our earlier coverage.
The airline is small and its plans have moved before. Thaiger reported in August that Ezy postponed three northern routes while it waited for approval to handle its own ground services at Chiang Mai. AeroRoutes calls Surat Thani to Hua Hin the airline’s second scheduled route. Other reports also describe Hua Hin to U-Tapao and Hat Yai to Betong services, so network counts are best read loosely.
The route also depends on Hua Hin Airport itself. An earlier MGR Online interview with the airport’s director said Ezy had shown interest in the Surat Thani route and that the airport was expanding its runway safety areas. International flights, the director said, would need approval from the aviation regulator first.
What to check this weekend
The first flights fall inside a wet spell. The Thai Meteorological Department’s warning, reported by Bangkok Biz News, expects heavy rain in places across the south from 7 to 9 November. A small turboprop is more exposed to weather than an airliner, and one aircraft in a thin schedule leaves little spare capacity. If you have booked the opening weekend, confirm the flight with the airline the day before.
The next real test is the weeks after the launch. Whether the 13:20 southbound flight fills, and whether the Friday to Sunday pattern holds through the high season, will show if Surat Thani becomes a regular option or a short experiment.
