Hua Hin Briefing: Thursday 5 November
Hua Hin gauges show light rain so far while a warning runs to 9 November, beachfront work is due on Friday, four ITF tennis weeks are set for Arena Hua Hin, and the delivery-app fee rule is open for comment.
Thursday’s notices start with a rain warning that has not yet delivered much to Hua Hin. Then come beachfront work due tomorrow, a tennis calendar for Arena Hua Hin and a consultation that closes on 20 November. The weekend plans are at the end, and the events calendar carries the rest.
Rain warning runs to 9 November
The Thai Meteorological Department has updated its heavy-rain notice for 5 to 9 November. Upper Thailand gets thunderstorms, gusts and hail from 5 to 7 November. The south sees accumulated rain, flash floods and runoff from 7 to 9 November, with Gulf waves above 2 metres where storms form. The current text is on tmd.go.th. So far Hua Hin has had little. Gauges in the district recorded at most 19 millimetres in the 24 hours to about 5am, and the main town stations read under 7, according to ThaiWater. The wettest reading in Prachuap Khiri Khan was 54.8 millimetres at Kui Buri, and Kaeng Krachan in Phetchaburi reached 91.5.
Beachfront work due on Friday
Hua Hin Municipality has briefed staff for work on the beachfront buildings on Friday 6 November, starting with the parts that project over the sea, Siamrath reports. Owners are to get letters, and staff will film their work. One house is already down. A fuller report is in the review queue, and the running timeline has the dates so far.
Four ITF tennis weeks at Arena
Arena Hua Hin will host four ITF World Tennis Tour weeks with US$60,000 in prize money. The men’s M15 main draws run from 9 to 15 November and 16 to 22 November. The women’s W15 events follow on 7 to 13 and 14 to 20 December, Siamrath reports. Paradorn Srichaphan, the former world number nine, is tournament director, and organisers plan wildcards for Thai players. The events belong to the “Hua Hin Well Played” campaign, which we covered in free tennis and a Land Cruiser.
Delivery-app fee rule open for comment
Thailand’s Trade Competition Commission is taking comment until 20 November on a draft rule that would make large ride-hailing and delivery platforms explain how they build and change their fees. It is not a price cap, and the commission expects it in force by about 18 December, according to MGR Online. Two platforms have challenged the commission in court, Daily News reports. The commission’s timetable is the part worth saving.
Before the weekend
Glamping Festival 2026 opens tomorrow at Arena Hua Hin Sports Club, so check the forecast on Friday morning. Our week-ahead listings cover the days to Wednesday, and what’s on tonight shows today’s events.
